Torpedo beats Greenvale school to top Eldoret swimming gala

More than 138 swimmers took part in the gala with Torpedo Swimmers attaining highest points with both boys’ and girls’ teams emerging winners at the competition.

On the girls’ side, two Torpedo swimmers, Mitchelle Atieno aged 19 and Vahkeinab Leboy aged 11 tied in first position with 61 points while the third position went to their 12-year-old teammate  Abigael Bochere with 59 points.

Torpedo boys also topped where 12-year-old Jeremy Kogo led with 62 points while 17-year-old Monty Majaliwa and 11-year-old Simon Knaan took the second and third positions respectively.

Torpedo girls’ team collected 526 points to emerge overall winners in women’s ranking while Greenvale School Eldoret was the second with 300.50 points.

Swimfit Class which represented Kisumu-based girls swimmers bagged 211 points to finish third in the championships.

Torpedo’s boys emerged top garnering 405 points as second-placed Greenvale School Eldoret earned 225 points and Kisumu’s Swift Kids got 167 points.

When scores for both girls and boys were combined, Torpedo led with 999 points as Greenvale School and Swimfit Class Kisumu had 575.50 and 308 points in second and third position respectively.
