Kenya’s 2023 KCSE Results Release: Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu Announces Schedule

Ezekiel Machogu, Kenya’s Education Cabinet Secretary, has unveiled the anticipated schedule for the release of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) results. According to Machogu, the results are slated to be made public in the second week of January 2023. Concurrently, he highlighted that the ongoing process of assembling, verifying, and validating the scores is in progress.

The marking of the 2023 KCSE exams took place from November 27th to December 13th, 2023, at designated marking centers, including institutions such as Starehe Girls Centre, Kiambu High School, Machakos Girls, Machakos TTC, Alliance Girls, Lang’ata High School, Thika High School, Limuru Girls, Nairobi School, Mangu High, State House Girls, Sunshine School, and Moi Forces Academy Nairobi.

Due to transmission issues experienced with the KCPE results, the forthcoming 2023 KCSE results will not be accessible through Short Messaging Service (SMS). Instead, individuals can access the results via the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal, a platform introduced by CS Machogu for this specific purpose. Parents and candidates are advised to visit the KEMIS website, where they can input KCSE names and index numbers to retrieve the results. This represents a departure from the conventional SMS-based result retrieval method due to challenges encountered during KCPE result transmission.

This year’s KCSE examination witnessed the participation of 903,260 candidates. The examination process commenced with projects, spanning from January to July 2023. Subsequently, oral, practical, and theory papers were administered from October 23rd to November 24th, 2023, conducted within designated examination centers.

The administration of KCSE projects involved key authorities such as Centre Managers, Subject teachers, Directors of Education, and Knec officials. Likewise, the execution of oral, practical, and theory papers engaged a broader team comprising Centre Managers, Supervisors, Invigilators, Quality Assurance Officers, Directors of Education, and Knec officials.

In response to challenges faced during KCPE results transmission, the shift to the KEMIS portal is aimed at providing a more reliable and efficient means for parents and candidates to access the 2023 KCSE results.
