Prominent Schools from Western and Rift Valley Regions Participate in the Open Volleyball Tournament
Leading schools from the Western and Rift Valley regions are currently engaged in the Arthur Odera Open Volleyball tournament, which kicked off at Malaba Stadium on Saturday.
In the girls’ category, Kesogon High from Rift Valley, the reigning national champions, entered Pool A after securing their maiden national title in the previous year by defeating Kwathanze 3-1 in the finals. They are set to face tough competition from Amus College of Uganda and Mwira from the Western region.
Lugulu, a formidable school with a history of twenty-one national championships from the Western region, finds itself in Pool C. Paired with Chester College from Rift Valley and Aluor from Nyanza, Lugulu, which last claimed national and East African titles in 2009, aims to use the tournament as a platform to revive its past glory.
Turning to the boys’ category, Rift Valley’s Cheptil Boys, the East African secondary schools champions, and national secondary schools runners-up Andersen High, headline Pool A. They share the group with Amus College from Uganda and Mwira.
In Pool D, Western’s Malava Boys, a two-time East African champion, and national schools bronze medalists Namwela High will face competition from Bumbe and Cheptil B.
Pool B features Sikri Technical and Vocational College for the blind and deaf from Nyanza, along with Katakwa, Apokor, and Yalusi from the Western region. Meanwhile, Pool C encompasses Chester College from Rift Valley, along with Buhuyi, Butula, and Malava B.
The tournament promises thrilling matches as these prominent schools compete for volleyball supremacy in their respective categories.
