Student Protests Over School Conditions: Cases of Wasio Secondary and Oruba Boys High
Students at Wasio Secondary School held demonstrations on March 19, protesting against poor-quality meals and demanding the resignation of the school principal. They marched to the Sub-County Director of Education’s office, accusing the principal of ignoring their requests for better meals, specifically the provision of kale. Suna East Sub-County Education Director Willis Omollo promised to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. The students also complained about inadequate learning conditions, affecting their academic progress. A similar incident occurred previously at Oruba Boys High School, where students protested poor performance in KCSE exams and were directed to submit complaints to Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
