Tsc Relocates 12 Teachers In Bungoma For Instigating Students Against Principals

In a recent statement, Bungoma County TSC Director, Wilson Koros, disclosed that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has implemented transfers for 12 teachers across different schools in Bungoma. The move was prompted by allegations of these teachers inciting students against their school principals. Koros, while speaking at Maliki Boys High School, issued a stern warning to teachers engaged in such activities, emphasizing that they would be held accountable for their actions. He pointed out that the recent surge in school unrest could be attributed to teachers influencing students against their school leaders. The TSC director stated, “We have transferred 12 teachers from different schools after confirming them to have incited students.”

Maliki Boys High School was among the institutions that experienced recent episodes of student unrest, resulting in significant damage to school property. Koros asserted that the TSC is actively investigating other teachers in the county in addition to those already transferred. Last July, approximately 30 schools in Bungoma encountered student unrest, accompanied by instances of harassment targeting non-local teachers. Many of these incidents were attributed to both teaching and non-teaching staff.

In an earlier interview with Education News, Koros linked the unrest to the delocalization policy, where teachers returning to the county sought administrative positions. He also highlighted cases of teachers, particularly those under Boards of Management (BoMs), working against school principals, leading to internal divisions. Koros urged principals to take necessary actions by reporting teachers involved in activities detrimental to their institutions to the TSC.
