A total of 291 young individuals have successfully completed a rigorous three-week training program at the Igoji Training Centre in Imenti South Constituency, Meru County, graduating from the Meru Youth Service (MYS).

These graduates will soon enroll at the Meru National Polytechnic to pursue professional courses that will equip them with valuable skills for the job market.

Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who presided over the graduation ceremony, expressed her confidence in the reformation of the graduates and voiced her optimism that none of them would resort to begging or fall into drug abuse. She assured the audience that her administration would closely monitor the progress of each graduate to ensure their successful reintegration into society.

“After undergoing intensive training, the graduates are now prepared to showcase their skills and knowledge to the world. On the 29th of this month, the 291 graduates will commence professional courses at Meru National Polytechnic,” Governor Mwangaza stated.

She further elaborated on the specific courses the graduates would undertake, with 190 focusing on professional guard training, 67 specializing in dairy farm management, and 34 receiving training as house managers. These tailored courses aim to effectively equip the graduates with the necessary skills for their respective fields.

Governor Mwangaza encouraged the graduates to maintain a determined mindset, urging them not to limit themselves and to pursue their dreams relentlessly. She emphasized that their past should not define them and that they should remain focused on their journey towards success.

Additionally, the governor announced that a new recruitment drive would be launched in a few weeks and invited interested individuals to stay alert for the opportunity to join the program.

Deputy Governor Isaac Mutuma highlighted the positive impact of the training program on the local community, expressing his belief that it would lead to a decrease in crime rates. The program provides beneficiaries with self-employment opportunities and engages them in beneficial activities. Mutuma emphasized that the training serves as a platform for young individuals to rediscover their self-esteem before enrolling in various vocational colleges.
