Mukiria Technical Training Institute Introduces Virtual Welding Courses in Collaboration with Polish Partners

Mukiria Technical Training Institute in Meru County is collaborating with partners from Poland, represented by Toolkit and Dig In Vision, to offer virtual welding courses. The initiative, set to commence early next year, is hailed as a groundbreaking technology in welding training by the school principal, Mr. Michael Maina. The collaboration was facilitated by Meru County Assembly Speaker Mr. Ayub Bundi, who aims to expand the program to benefit 100-200 youth in other regions of the county. The training, considered a game changer, will also include Solar Technology training, positioning trainees with internationally recognized skills for both local and international job markets. Mr. Maina highlighted that the use of Virtual Reality Technology in technical skills training will reduce costs and enhance the learning experience. Deputy Principal Ms. Karwitha Nkarichia urged the community to build modern hostels to accommodate the increasing student and staff population at the institute, especially with the introduction of new courses. She emphasized the need for better facilities to address accommodation challenges faced by students and staff who currently travel long distances to find housing.
