Term One Games Secondary School Pool Announced.

The KSSSA has unveiled the pools for the secondary school term one games, coinciding with the release of the timetable. The championships, scheduled from April 6th to April 14th, 2024, will feature athletics, basketball (5 on 5), hockey, cross country, handball, rugby 15s (boys only), and swimming.

Handball, basketball, rugby 15’s, and swimming will take place at Machakos Boys High School, accommodating male participants, while Machakos Girls High School will host female participants. Hockey matches will be held at Machakos Teachers College.

In 5×5 Basketball Girls, Pool A will comprise regional champions from Central, Western, Nairobi, and Nyanza, while Pool B will include Rift Valley, Coast, North Eastern, and Eastern regional champions.

For boys, Pool A will feature regional champions from Eastern, Rift Valley, North Eastern, and Nairobi, while Pool B will consist of Nyanza, Central, Coast, and Western champions.

Handball pools for girls will be divided into Pool A (Coast, Nairobi, Eastern, Western) and Pool B (Nyanza, Rift Valley, Central, North Eastern). For boys, Pool A will include Western, Nairobi, Central, and North Eastern, while Pool B will feature Nyanza, Coast, Eastern, and Rift Valley.

Hockey Girls: Pool A – Nyanza, Western, Nairobi; Pool B – Rift Valley, Coast, Central. Boys: Eastern 1, Coast, Nairobi, Nyanza; Pool B – Eastern 2, Rift Valley, Central, Western.

Rugby 15’s Boys: Pool A – Regional champions from Eastern 1, Western, Rift Valley, Nyanza; Pool B – Eastern 2, Coast, Nairobi, Central.

Girls have been included in the KSSSA Rugby 7’s championship, which will be staged in term two alongside the boys’ championship.

This year’s cross country event will be exclusively for under 18s, as Kenya hosts the ISF World Cross Country Championship in Nairobi.

Selections will commence from the sub-county level upwards, featuring three categories: Under 18 for secondary schools, Under 15 for junior schools, and Under 12 for primary schools.

National qualifiers will earn direct entries into the International Schools’ Sports Federation (ISF) championship, scheduled for May 10th to May 15th, 2024, at Ngong Race Course in Nairobi.
