Education Set for Significant Gains in the Ksh.4.14 Trillion Budget for 2024/25
In anticipation of the forthcoming financial budget, Ndindi Nyoro, the Member of Parliament for Kiharu, has underscored that a significant portion of the budgetary allocation will be directed towards bolstering the education sector, aiming to elevate the overall standards of education nationwide.
During a community address in Kapseret constituency, Nyoro unveiled that, out of the Ksh.4.14 trillion budget, a substantial segment has been earmarked for both the education and agriculture sectors. Serving as the chairperson of the National Assembly’s Budgets and Appropriations committee, Nyoro emphasized that the largest share of the budget will be channeled into the education domain.
He expressed the commitment to ensure universal access to education for all children across Kenya. Moreover, Nyoro stressed the significance of agriculture, affirming, “The other high budget is agriculture, we want agriculture to be a business. We will give farmers products, and we want them to profit from farm produce.” Additionally, Nyoro outlined strategies within the Ministry of Agriculture to allocate funds for subsidized fertilizers provision to farmers, aiming to foster increased profitability in the agricultural sector.
In addressing the needs of vulnerable demographics, Nyoro announced that funds will be prioritized for the elderly and individuals living with disabilities in the budget for the 2024/25 financial year. This deliberate allocation strategy aligns with the overarching objective of ensuring the inclusive and equitable distribution of resources across diverse sectors.
