Beneficiaries of the ‘Bwosi Na Masomo’ education initiative from Gisambai, Jepkoyai, and Tambua wards, along with their parents and guardians, gathered today at Givole Primary School grounds in Jepkoyai ward, Hamisi Constituency, to receive their bursary cheques from Patron Rogers Sultani Bwosi.
This year’s edition has seen a remarkable increase in support, with the number of beneficiaries rising to 106 students, and the total bursary fund growing from Kshs. 700,000 to Kshs. 900,000. Each student also received a school bag, geometrical set, and exercise books to further support their academic journey.
As part of the foundation’s broader commitment to education, Givole Primary and Secondary Schools—the host institutions—each received a computer to enhance administrative and learning processes.
The event was attended by local leaders, school principals, and representatives from the benefiting institutions, underscoring the community’s strong support for the program.
Expanding Opportunities for Bright but Needy Students
During the event, Patron Rogers Sultani Bwosi officially launched the ‘Bwosi Na Masomo’ Education Program, which has provided bursaries to 106 academically promising but financially disadvantaged students. The allocation includes 14 students from each of the seven wards in Hamisi Constituency, plus an additional eight students with extreme vulnerability or disabilities.
Among the beneficiaries, 10 students who scored a B+ and above in their national exams have been awarded full scholarships as an incentive for academic excellence. The remaining students each received a bursary cheque of Kshs. 8,000 to support their education.
Additionally, each of the 57 boys and 49 girls received essential school supplies, including a school bag, geometrical set, and exercise books.
Speaking at Musudzu Secondary School, where he met beneficiaries from Tiriki East region (Muhudu, Shiru, Shamakhokho, and Banja wards), Bwosi encouraged the students to prioritize discipline, work hard, and put God first in their academic journey. He also emphasized the importance of giving back to society once they succeed.
Further expanding its impact, the Rogers Bwosi Foundation donated two computers to both the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) – Hamisi Sub-Branch office and the host school, facilitating smoother operations and digital learning.
Beneficiaries from Gisambai, Jepkoyai, and Tambua wards are set to receive their cheques next week.
The event brought together local leaders, school principals, and representatives from various schools, all reaffirming their commitment to supporting education and empowering the next generation.
