Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, the CEO of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS), has announced the indefinite extension of the deadline for university placement applications. The decision to extend the deadline was made in response to challenges faced by potential applicants in accessing the application portal.
Initially, the deadline for university placement applications was set for February 26, 2024, prompting late applicants to make last-minute efforts to submit their applications before the original cutoff. However, due to difficulties experienced by applicants and to ensure equal opportunities for all, KUCCPS has decided to extend the deadline until further notice.
In a press statement, Dr. Agnes Wahome emphasized that all students participating in the current application process are first-time applicants, as KUCCPS has discontinued school-level applications. Additionally, the statement highlighted that the shift to the e-Citizen platform for government service payments has resulted in a longer payment validation process for KUCCPS applicants.
Applicants were cautioned against making double payments, and the processing of applications will commence once KUCCPS ensures that all targeted students have successfully applied for their courses. This approach aims to prevent any disadvantage based on the timing of application submissions.
Dr. Wahome further explained that after the placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities for those who may have missed the initial application or have not secured their preferred courses. The statement concluded by expressing KUCCPS’s commitment to collaborating with relevant government stakeholders to facilitate the submission of choices for all applicants, ensuring inclusivity in the application process.
The KUCCPS portal for application and placement in universities and colleges was initially opened on February 7, 2024.
