Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa, in the judgement dated October 25, 2022 ordered that the institution’s administration and the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) engage in negotiations to end the deadlock.
Justice Wasilwa also said that the Court would issue further guidance on the matter on December 1. 2022.
Egerton University lecturers’ went on strike on Monday last week to protest salary pay cuts of up to 43 per cent since 2020.
Learning was halted as the strike entered its second week compelling the University’s administration to file a petition in court seeking to end the strike and allow room for negotiations.
