South Rift MPs Allocate KSh186 Million to Support Needy Students
Ainamoi Member of Parliament Ambassador Benjamin Langat has implemented stringent regulations for various NG-CDF committees at the ward level to prevent issues that previously led to unfair distribution of bursaries to students. Langat emphasized the importance of these regulations in ensuring that needy students are not overlooked in the allocation process.
Speaking at Motobo Secondary School, Langat announced the largest ever NG-CDF donation of KSh60 million, aimed at benefiting students in secondary schools, colleges, and universities across the six sub-counties of the constituency. A total of 1,365 students in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and 1,387 university students will be eligible for assistance from this fund. Langat expressed pride in launching such a substantial amount, emphasizing that all day school students would receive an equitable share of the fund.
Meanwhile, Belgut MP Nelson Koech disbursed KSh50 million to support learners in Belgut Constituency. He commended the bursary committee members at various levels for their exemplary work. The disbursement event, held at Chepkoton Secondary, was graced by Kericho Senator Aron Cheruiyot, who urged students to make the most of the allocated funds and commissioned a multi-purpose hall funded by the Belgut NG-CDF. Cheruiyot encouraged parents to invest wisely in their children’s education, emphasizing the importance of seeing their academic pursuits through to successful completion.
In Bureti, MP Kibet Komingoi presided over the distribution of KSh76.5 million, which he highlighted would significantly assist students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The disbursement event underscored the commitment of local leaders to support education and empower students in their pursuit of academic success.
