TSC warns school BoMs against defending teachers who defile students

An official from TSC Field Service Directorate Cecilia Musyoki while addressing a five-days’ workshop for TSC Sub-County Directors at ARC Hall in Egerton University on October 27, 2022 stated that, the Commission’s Disciplinary department has noticed that many teachers who have defile schools girls in various parts of the country, are being defended by their respective school BOM so that they cannot be prosecuted by the court of law.

According to Musyoki, BOM members are colluding with the parents and guardians of the minor so that they can settle the case domestically thus denying the minor a right to get justice.

She warned the BOM that the TSC will use various state departments to ensure any BOM members, who are involved in defending such teachers, are arrested and prosecuted in the court of laws so that they can serve as a lesson to others.

Musyoki said Kenyan school girls should be given a conducive environment to learn and as a Commission, they cannot tolerate teachers who involve in such immoral behaviors; advising teachers to observe professionalism while carrying out their duties, urging school principals to ensure they report all teachers who are involved in immoral behavior so that action can be taken and ensuring that girls dress decently.

“As TSC we cannot allow any of the teachers in both secondary schools and primary schools to be involved in immoral behavior,” said Musyoki.

“School girls must also dress well while in school, some of our girls are wearing a school uniform which is like a miniskirt, which should not happen in our schools. We expect them to put on a school uniform which is respectful,” advised Musyoki.
