The Ministry of Education has officially released the 2025 academic calendar, detailing school term dates, half-term breaks, and national examination schedules for various levels, including:

• Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA)
• Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA)
• Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA)
• Kenya Prevocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA)
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)

School Term Dates 2025

Term 1

• Opening Date: January 6, 2025
• Half-Term Break: February 26 – March 2, 2025
• Closing Date: April 4, 2025
• April Holiday: April 7 – April 25, 2025

Term 2

• Opening Date: April 28, 2025
• Half-Term Break: June 25 – June 29, 2025
• Closing Date: August 1, 2025
• August Holiday: August 4 – August 22, 2025

Term 3

• Opening Date: August 25, 2025
• Closing Date: October 24, 2025
• December Holiday: October 27, 2025 – January 2, 2026

National Examination Schedule 2025

• KPSEA: October 27 – October 30, 2025
• KILEA: October 27 – October 31, 2025
• KJSEA & KPLEA: October 27 – November 6, 2025

Education Infrastructure & Curriculum Updates

The government has assured parents that 11,000 new classrooms will be completed by December 2024 to accommodate Grade 9 learners in 2025. This initiative supports the first cohort of students under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) as they enter their final year of Junior School.

Additionally, these learners will be the first candidates to sit the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA), marking a key milestone in their transition to Senior School.
