Zetech University has unveiled its collaboration with several secondary schools aimed at promoting sporting activities and nurturing the talents of students. Wiycliffe Sirengo, the university’s sports official, revealed that they are actively scouting for talent in secondary schools to provide support and nurture, including offering sponsorships for higher education.
Participating schools in this initiative include Mang’u High School in Kiambu County and Moi Girls Eldoret. As part of this collaboration, the university organized and sponsored the annual Moi Girls tournament, which attracted approximately 30 schools from the Rift Valley region. Various sports were featured in the event, including football, volleyball, handball, hockey, netball, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, and chess.
Juliana Kirui, the Chief Principal of Moi Girls Eldoret, commended the successful competitions and highlighted the collaboration with Zetech University as a significant step towards honing students’ talents and helping them discover their potential in sports. She emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work outside the classroom, noting that these qualities contribute to a competitive edge and success in all aspects of life.
During the 30th edition of the Mang’u Open Tournament at Mang’u High School, Chief Principal John Kuria acknowledged the institution’s notable achievements in extracurricular activities. He mentioned their prowess in rugby, handball, basketball, and swimming, attributing the nurturing of these talents to esteemed institutions like Zetech University. Kuria expressed optimism that this collaborative program would play a pivotal role in shaping the careers of numerous aspiring athletes.
