Bumula’s Needy Students Receive KSh52 Million in Bursary Funds

Needy students attending secondary schools and tertiary institutions in Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County, have received bursaries totaling KSh52 million from the NG-CDF fund.

During the disbursement ceremony held at Kimatuni Primary School grounds, local Legislator Jack Wanami Wamboka emphasized his commitment to ensuring that no child misses out on education due to financial constraints. He applauded the teaching fraternity for their exemplary performance, attributing improved academic results to initiatives such as the food program, particularly beneficial for exam candidates.

Wamboka announced plans to continue investing in educational infrastructure, including constructing classrooms, administration blocks, and modern toilet facilities across schools in the constituency. Additionally, he revealed intentions to establish an Education Day to recognize and reward the achievements of top-performing schools, students, and teachers.

Highlighting educational advancements, the MP mentioned that 200 students enrolled at the Kenya Industrial Training Institute in Nauru are on the verge of graduating, equipped with skills to excel in the job market. He reiterated his dedication to enhancing technical institutes like Musakasa and Cardinal Maurice Otunga Tulumba TTIs.

Wamboka also urged the Ministry of Education to reconsider the e-Citizen fees collection model, citing financial difficulties faced by many parents. Augustine Watamba, Chairman of KNUT Bungoma County, expressed gratitude to teachers for their dedication to quality education delivery. He also acknowledged the government’s appointment of Bungoma South KNUT Executive Ken Nganga Milimo to an ambassadorial position in the United Arab Emirates, viewing it as a testament to the trust in teachers’ leadership.
