The Ministry of Education has unveiled the 2025 co-curricular activities calendar for primary, junior, and secondary schools, as well as colleges. A notable change in the schedule is the reintroduction of age limits for participants in school games and sporting activities.
Age Limits for Participation:
- Primary Schools: Only learners under the age of 12 are eligible to participate.
- Junior Secondary Schools: Students must be under 15 years old to take part.
- Secondary Schools: Participation is limited to students under 18 years old, barring adults from joining these activities.
This age restriction aims to promote fairness and ensure the safety of younger students, protecting them from potential injuries when competing against older or more physically mature participants.
Previously, the Ministry had imposed similar age caps but temporarily lifted them following widespread protests from schools. The new age guidelines mark a return to these regulations to create a more balanced playing field.
