MP Julius Sunkuli Transforms Trans Mara West Schools with New Infrastructure

Teachers and parents in Trans Mara West Sub County have lauded their area Member of Parliament, Julius Sunkuli, for his unwavering efforts in improving school infrastructure, which has significantly enhanced the learning environment for students.

Speaking during the commissioning of newly constructed classrooms at Inkoriento Primary School, school head teacher Johnson Kimurata expressed his appreciation for the MP’s dedication to education. He noted that the improved facilities have led to a notable increase in student enrollment over the past two years.

“The quality of classrooms has drastically improved, directly influencing student numbers,” remarked Kimurata.

Overcoming Infrastructure Challenges

Kimurata highlighted the challenges faced by Inkoriento Primary School, which was temporarily closed due to poor sanitation facilities. However, with the intervention of the Kilgoris NG-CDF office, additional toilets were constructed, allowing the school to resume operations and continue serving the local community.

He further emphasized that the construction of new classrooms has contributed to increased student enrollment across various schools in the region.

Community Acknowledgment of Positive Change

Local parent Joshua Kilerai, speaking on behalf of other parents, recalled how schools in Trans Mara were previously constructed using semi-permanent materials such as iron sheets and mud.

However, thanks to MP Sunkuli’s leadership and support from the Kilgoris NG-CDF office, modern classrooms have been built, transforming the educational landscape in the region.

“Since taking office, Sunkuli has spearheaded the construction and renovation of schools, making a lasting impact,” Kilerai noted.

Government Support and Future Plans

Joan Mutai, the Trans Mara West Sub County Education Director, confirmed that many schools were initially built with inadequate materials but have now seen substantial improvements under Sunkuli’s leadership. She commended the Kilgoris NG-CDF for its pivotal role in upgrading local educational facilities.

During the event, MP Sunkuli emphasized the importance of teacher commitment in ensuring quality education, stating that student success goes beyond exam results and depends on dedicated teaching efforts.

He also highlighted the broader impact of the NG-CDF in the constituency, which has facilitated:

  • New classroom construction and school renovations
  • Improved feeder roads
  • Other key community development projects

The four newly commissioned classrooms—two at Inkoriento Primary School and two at Ilkujuka Primary School—are part of ongoing efforts to create a conducive learning environment for both teachers and students.

Sunkuli reassured the community of his continued commitment to making schools a source of pride and aligned these developments with the government’s efforts to implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). He further defended the NG-CDF, emphasizing its critical role in improving education and calling for its retention.
