Ministry of Education (MoE) reorganizes its directors at Jogoo House to enhance service delivery

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has implemented a significant reshuffle in the leadership of its directorates at Jogoo House, aiming to enhance service delivery. These changes are a response to the recent automatic promotions of MoE staff, resulting in a shift in key positions.

Dr. William Sugut, formerly the Eastern Regional Director of Education, has taken over as the Director of Secondary Education, replacing Paul Kibet. Kibet, who served in the role for several years, is reported to have secured a position at USAID. Dr. Sugut, known for his effective handling of Junior Secondary School (JSS) funds, was previously in charge of the JSS directorate.

Hassan Duale, who oversaw Field Service and Co-Curricular Activities, is now heading the Directorate of JSS, succeeding Dr. Sugut. Nelson Sifuna, the former Nyanza Regional Director of Education, assumes Duale’s previous role, while Lawrence Karuntimi, formerly the Deputy Director of Secondary Education, moves to Nyanza as the new Deputy Regional Director of Education.

In the Teacher Education Directorate, Yusuf Karayu has taken over as the new Director, succeeding Dr. Salome Maina, who is reportedly reassigned to the Director General’s office. Julius Kimando, previously the Deputy Director at the ECDE Directorate, assumes the position of the new Deputy Regional Director of Education, Rift Valley.

Samuel Boto, the former Deputy Director for the Teacher Education Directorate, transitions to Eastern in the same capacity. Bartholomew Lumbasi is appointed as the new Director for the Policy Directorate, replacing Ann Kashoya. Kashoya, who has been acting in the position, now moves to the Primary Education Directorate as the Deputy Director.

Dorothy Ogega, the former Deputy Director for Primary Education, shifts to the Special Needs Directorate as the Deputy Director. Hellen Arisi, who served as Deputy Director for Field Services, moves to the JSS Directorate with a focus on Education in Emergencies. These strategic changes are intended to optimize the leadership structure for improved efficiency and effectiveness within the Ministry of Education.
