TSC Begins Teacher Document Verification for 8,707 Replacement Positions

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially commenced the verification process for teachers applying to replace 8,707 positions vacated due to natural attrition. The Commission has outlined the academic and professional documents that applicants must present during the verification exercise.

Breakdown of Available Positions

TSC announced a total of 8,707 vacancies across different levels of education:

  • 5,862 positions for primary schools
  • 21 positions for junior schools
  • 2,824 positions for secondary schools

Required Documents for Verification

Primary School Teacher Applicants

Applicants for primary school teaching positions must present both original and legible photocopies of the following documents:

  1. National identification card
  2. Certificate of Registration as a teacher
  3. Evidence of completion of the Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE) or its equivalent
  4. Primary Teacher Education (PTE) Certificate
  5. KCSE certificate or its equivalent (include all certificates for any resits)
  6. KCPE certificate or its equivalent (include all certificates for any resits)
  7. Letter of Certification of results from KNEC (if applicable)
  8. Primary and secondary school leaving certificates and relevant testimonials
  9. National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if applicable)
  10. Sworn Affidavit under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 (for discrepancies in names)

Post-Primary School Teacher Applicants (Junior School & Secondary School)

Applicants for junior school and secondary school teaching positions must provide:

a) National identification card b) Certificate of Registration as a teacher c) Diploma/Degree certificate and official transcripts d) KCSE certificate or its equivalent (include certificates for any resits) e) KCPE certificate or its equivalent (include certificates for any resits) f) Primary and secondary school leaving certificates and relevant testimonials g) National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if applicable) h) Sworn Affidavit under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 (for discrepancies in names) i) Letter of Certification of results from KNEC (if applicable)

Special Considerations for Intern Teachers

Currently serving intern teachers are only required to present their national identification cards for the verification process.

Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

Applicants with disabilities must indicate their disability status and provide details about the nature of their disability to assist with placement.

Merit List and Recruitment Process

Following the verification exercise, the TSC Sub-County Director will compile a Merit List of all verified applicants.

TSC has assured applicants that the Merit Lists will be available for public viewing upon request, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 to maintain the confidentiality of personal information.

Employment Terms

Successful applicants will be employed on permanent and pensionable (PnP) terms.
