Zetech University provides training to more than 100 South African traders on innovation and technology.

At the graduation ceremony held at Wits University, over 100 informal traders and microenterprise starters from South Africa celebrated their completion of a training program on Innovation and Technology facilitated by Zetech University. The initiative aimed to equip participants with essential business management skills, marketing strategies, customer care techniques, and knowledge of hygiene and food safety regulations.

The training program, organized by the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (WRSETA), provided a six-month mentorship and financial literacy training to the participating businesses. This comprehensive support was designed to assist them in enhancing their growth plans and aspirations, ultimately contributing to the economic sustainability of South Africa.

Following the completion of the program, which included mentorship and coaching sessions, the traders are expected to leverage their newfound skills and knowledge to grow their businesses, create employment opportunities, and strengthen rural and township economies. The certification ceremony provided a platform for participants to share their learning experiences, the impact of the program on their businesses, and their future prospects.

The collaboration between Zetech University and WRSETA was hailed as a significant milestone in empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in both Kenya and South Africa. Through initiatives like the Informal Traders Exchange Program, the aim is to address the existing gap in support for SMEs and foster economic growth and transformation.

Speaking at the event, WRSETA CEO Tom Mkhwanazi emphasized the transformative power of education, mentorship, and collaborative efforts in driving positive change and economic empowerment. He highlighted the crucial role played by informal traders in regional economic integration and development.

Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof Njenga Munene commended the program for its focus on empowering MSMEs and SMEs, stating that it addresses a long-standing need in the business community. He emphasized the importance of partnerships and collaborations in providing essential skills and resources to entrepreneurs.

In conclusion, the training program represents a collaborative effort to uplift communities, foster economic empowerment, and increase entrepreneurial activity in South Africa. Zetech University, along with its partners, remains committed to empowering informal traders and SMEs through targeted training and support initiatives.
