Migori County Government Launches Sh 120 Million Bursaries And Scholarships Program

The Migori County Government has launched the second edition of Dr. Ochilo Ayacko’s bursaries and scholarships program, allocating Sh.120 million to support needy students in the county.
Speaking from her office, Rosline Otieno, the County Chief Officer in charge of Education, announced that the 2025 bursary application process is now open and encouraged eligible students to apply promptly.
Otieno revealed that the program is set to benefit over 16,346 students across secondary schools and tertiary institutions. Secondary school students will receive a minimum of Sh.5,000, while tertiary-level students will get Sh.10,000.
To facilitate the application process, forms are readily available on Migori County’s official website, ward administrative offices, and Members of the County Assembly (MCA) offices. Otieno emphasized that the bursaries primarily target total orphans, partial orphans, and other vulnerable students struggling with school fees.
Parents and beneficiaries are advised to complete and return the application forms to their respective ward administrators’ offices. Attendance forms will also need to be filled out to ensure authenticity and accountability in the process.
Otieno also cautioned the public to beware of fraudulent individuals demanding payment for application forms or falsely promising to secure scholarships through personal connections. She urged applicants to rely only on official channels to avoid exploitation.
This initiative reflects Migori County’s continued commitment to empowering education and addressing financial barriers for its students.
