Tampalal Primary Learners Celebrate as New Classroom Block is Unveiled

Learners at Tampalal Primary School were filled with joy as their new Grade 9 classroom was officially commissioned in a colorful ceremony attended by parents, teachers, and Board of Management (BoM) members. The event was graced by Philemon Rop, the West Pokot Sub-County Education Quality Assurance and Standards Officer (QASO), and Benson Ariteluk, the County Project Coordinator.
Education Officials Urge Hard Work & CBC Implementation
Speaking at the event, Ariteluk encouraged learners to strive for excellence and aim for top institutions beyond their locality, citing his own academic journey in the Nyanza region as inspiration. He commended the Ministry of Education for its timely funding, which facilitated the construction of Grade 9 classrooms in West Pokot County.
Ariteluk revealed that:
✅ 99 Grade 9 classrooms were built in Phase 1
✅ 278 classrooms were added in Phase 2
✅ By the end of Phase 3, a total of 313 classrooms will be completed across the county
He also urged teachers to fully adopt the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) by integrating the updated Curriculum Designs for effective learning.
Guiding Learners on CBC Pathways
QASO officer Rop emphasized the importance of helping learners understand CBC pathways after Grade 9. He reminded teachers that students must choose one of the three streams in Grade 10:
📌 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
📌 Social Sciences
📌 Creative Arts & Sports
He further commended Madam Christine Lotee, the head teacher, for her efforts in renovating the school and enhancing its learning environment.
Call for Science & ICT Labs
In her remarks, Headteacher Christine Lotee expressed deep gratitude to the Ministry of Education for constructing the Grade 9 classroom. However, she made a heartfelt appeal for the establishment of Science and ICT laboratories to further enrich students’ learning experiences.
