TSC Issues List of 36,000 Promoted Teachers; Instructions for Verification
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has published a roster of teachers who received promotions to higher positions following successful interviews.
In a statement dated March 5, 2024, TSC disclosed that a total of 36,505 educators were promoted, an initiative first announced in August 2023.
The CEO of TSC, Nancy Macharia, had unveiled plans to promote 36,000 teachers across nine different grades in August 2023. Among these promotions, 10,819 were allocated for senior teachers under C2, while 12,716 were earmarked for senior masters under grade C4. An additional 1,029 promotions were reserved for headteachers under grade C5.
Moreover, 700 promotion slots were designated for senior teachers in special needs schools (grade C2), 108 for senior principals, and 200 for senior lecturers in Teachers’ Training Colleges. Interested candidates were required to submit their applications by September 8, 2023, via the TSC portal.
To check for promotions, applicants were instructed to verify their status through a link provided on the TSC website. They were directed to visit the TSC website, navigate to Home > Media Center > Download Successful Candidates. Under the Successful Candidates section, they were to access the Successful Applicants for Advert 46/2023 – 69/2023. The Commission would publish a downloadable PDF file containing the names of successful candidates listed according to their respective TSC numbers.
Furthermore, these promotions came shortly after TSC invited applications from primary tutors interested in positions as Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers. In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 20, the TSC announced the deployment of teachers to JSS schools, with the application deadline set for March 18.
Eligible applicants were required to be Kenyan citizens holding a P1 certificate and must have obtained a minimum mean grade of C+ in the KCSE. They should also be registered by the Commission as teachers and serving under permanent and pensionable contracts in public primary schools, meeting all requisite qualifications.
